At first glance, Kurt seems cold and kind of scary until you manage to though his shell. Emotions are always kept close and controlled unless you happen to be Geunsuk. Kurt then becomes more expressive and less stone-faced. He takes his job and position seriously and would go to great lengths to protect what he has carefully cultivated aboard The Leviathan.

Dark headed and of average height, Kurt doesn't stand out in a crowd. His hair is kept military short and the only other adornments he has are the earrings he wears in both ears and a necklace that his sister gave him before he went into basic. Built like a brick, Kurt is usually seen wearing cargo pants, tank tops, combat boots and his flight jacket.

history

The only son of a career military family, Kurt Jung was groomed from an early age to go into the service. When he wasn’t in school, he was studying strategy as well as other tools of war. His path had already been chosen for him. He would be like his father, a pilot and an officer with a focus on promotions. It wasn’t something young Kurt wanted. He just wanted to be his own person and make his own way on his own terms, but he wasn’t sure how he could do that and at the time, rebelling against his father wasn’t an option.

Once he enlisted and completed basic, Kurt’s first act of open rebellion was to chose to become a navigator rather than a pilot. His father was furious, but he couldn’t change the young man’s mind, so he let it go. Entering flight school, he was partnered with a dedicated pilot, Kurt thought they would be a good match, until their personalities clashed. Geunsuk was chaos in Kurt’s order and it drove him crazy, and when the pilot finally got his navigator to cut loose, they became fast friends. For the next two years, they flew and partied their way through their tour, Kurt growing more distant from his family the further he got from them.

With the end of their time in the military drawing to a close, Geunsuk was restless while Kurt had made up his mind that he wouldn’t be enlisting again. It would be his final act of rebellion against his family as he was disowned shortly after following his friend back into the skies aboard an airship.

Kurt finally had his freedom, his best friend at his side and a job he loved. He never once looked back.
